Dealer's own inspection came back clean, should I trust it?
Quote from clarissamacWhirter on October 22, 2026, 8:25 amSo I found a car I like at a smaller dealer and they were very proud to show me their own inspection report saying everything's in order, which is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect them to show me. The problem is I've got no way to know whether that report means anything, since it was done by them, for them, and conveniently lists nothing of concern. I've been trying to work out how to get an independent view without offending anyone, and a friend told me to Visit this website to at least understand what a proper third party check involves, but I'm still undecided. Has anyone pushed back on a dealer's own report and insisted on an independent one, and did they make a fuss about it? I'm not trying to be difficult, I just don't think a garage should be marking its own homework. Also curious whether independent inspectors tend to contradict dealer reports often, or if I'm being paranoid for no reason.
