Bit of a cautionary tale for anyone thinking of going the budget route on exhaust work. Last year my Cherokee had a blowing noise and I took it to a guy who charged me almost nothing to slap some paste and a patch over the hole, told me it would last years. Fast forward twelve months and the whole section is rotten, the noise is back worse than before, and the patch is basically hanging on out of spite. The annoying part is I knew deep down it was a temporary fix but the price was too tempting to argue with. Now I'm doing it properly and trying to find someone who will actually replace the affected section rather than smearing more goop on it. A mate pointed me towards jeepservicemussafah.ae/exhaust-repair when I mentioned I wanted it done right this time, and the bit about checking the whole system rather than just the visible hole made a lot of sense given what I've just been through. Has anyone else been burned by a quick fix like this? And is there a way to tell whether a workshop is going to do a proper job before you hand over the keys, or is it just pot luck until something fails again?
